Catch a glimpse of art's future
Watkins seniors exhibit their works in three-part shows Graduating art students at Watkins College of Art & Design are now showing their work at the MetroCenter campus. The 2005 Senior Thesis Exhibition, presented in the school's Brownlee O. Currey Jr. Gallery, will be divided into three consecutive segments to accommodate work by a dozen senior students.
The work on view, ranging from photography and painting to mixed media and sculpture, represents the final project for the students, who graduate in May with their bachelor of fine arts degrees. Now on view is work by Jennifer Cook, Jason Driskill and Cherry Smith-Bell. Set to go on view April 1 is work by Derek Gibson and Kristen Burton-Work. The third and final segment will open May 6 with pieces by Will ClenDening, Heather Spriggs-Thompson, Beth Hartman-Peters, Eve Peach, Iwonka Waskowski, Ann Carver Walker and Brett Smithson. As is often the case with student shows at good schools, this show offers a convenient chance for you to educate yourself on some recent trends in contemporary art among the next generation of professional artists. — Alan Bostick, Staff Writer getting there Now through June 3, Watkins College of Art & Design presents its 2005 Senior Thesis Exhibition in the Brownlee O.
