NBC grants Amy one of her wishes
NBC has picked up a season of a new feel-good Amy Grant reality show called Three Wishes. You might remember that Amy went to do the show as a pilot for NBC, going into a small U.S. town and granting three wishes, one to an individual, one to a group/family and one to the whole town. Then the network was going to decide whether to pick it up for a whole season. Guess NBC liked what it saw: Amy was in New York yesterday to help the network announce its fall lineup, which includes Three Wishes at 7 Friday nights, usually a family programming kinda night. (Think Joan of Arcadia.) ''We were absolutely thrilled to get the call,'' Amy's manager, Jennifer Cooke, said yesterday. ''Hopefully it finds its audience, and they promote it strongly.'' Mazel tov! 'The Contender' and 'American Dreams' out So you know Amy Grant has a new NBC show (see above). Here are some other NBC (Channel 4) fall lineup highlights: Boxing reality show The Contender, which featured two Nashville contestants, is gone. So is Dick Clark's '60s drama, American Dreams, which featured Chattanoogan Rachel Boston — whose grandparents live in Goodlettsville — as J.J.'s wife, Beth. The West Wing is coming back, but it's moving to 7 p.m. Sundays. The Apprentice: Martha Stewart will air at 7 p.m. Wednesdays. And finally, weight-loss show The Biggest Loser, whose debut season featured two Nashvillians, will return, airing at 7 p.m. Tuesdays. No word on whether Nashville native Bob the trainer will return. Coyote, Cathy are radio job-hunting From Tennessean senior writer Tim Ghianni: Coyote McCloud and his former Oldies 96.3 partner Cathy Martindale were ''doing meetings'' yesterday in an attempt to sort out their futures on local radio. The two were among the on-air personalities displaced last week when 96.3 switched to the JACK-FM format, a mix of tunes from the 1970s to today with no on-air personalities. Friday, a day after 96.3 switched, Star 97 General Manager Michael Dickey swooped in and gobbled up the oldies format, with his station becoming Oldies 97.1. His stated hopes were to take over the staff as well, bringing in Coyote and Cathy and dumping his Rick & Bubba morning show. Yesterday, Rick & Bubba were still on the air and will continue to be while station management tries to work out a deal with Coyote and Cathy. Still need help naming the Coliseum OK, folks, the deadline is noon tomorrow for the Name the Coliseum contest to win VIP tickets to Friday's Comcast Jeff Fisher & Friends Celebrity Softball Game. And we need to step it up a bit. I asked for new names for the Coliseum, since the Adelphia thing didn't work out. A dozen or so of you suggested the Bud Bowl, for owner Bud Adams. Then, of course, there were some pandering answers such as Fisher Field. OK, you're gonna win tix to Thursday night's VIP pre-party where you'll meet Jeff Fisher and several Titans. You'll get great seats to Friday's game at Greer Stadium. (Call 242-4371 for regular $15 tix.) And you'll get two tix for the post-game party with all the players Friday night at Sluggers. Did I mention fireworks? So let's get some fabulous answers in here, people! It's a great prize, worthy of a Titan-ic entry. Please include your full name, town and daytime phone number. I love you. Morsels • Worlds collide! Titans QB Steve McNair rubbed elbows with actor Matthew McConaughey and chatted with him about University of Texas football this past weekend at a fundraiser thrown by Green Bay QB Brett Favre. Brett and Steve are both Mississippi boys, and the fundraiser golf tourney happened in Gulfport, Miss. If you want a corporate entry into Steve's upcoming fundraiser, Steve McNair Celebrity Golf Classic presented by AllState, call 256-5577. It's June 5-6 at the Governor's Club. • Comedy Central network star Dave Chappelle tells Time magazine that he went to South Africa to have some time off, not to check into rehab or to a psychiatric ward, as had been reported previously. Love to hear from you. Here's how to find me: phone, 259-8073; fax, 259-8057; e-mail, brad@tennessean.com; address, 1100 Broadway, Nashville, Tenn. 37203.
